Tabuna Camp is located close to the capital of the New
Valley, near the hillside of Tell Dush, 100 km before Kharga
travelling from Luxor. The camp is surrounded by desert and has a one of a kind
view to the ancient ruins of the roman fortress that has once been safeguarding
the passage through the vast desert known as the Darb el Arbain,
the
route of 40 days.
Each tent is made out of wood and covered in material; protecting our guest
from the sun and allowing a slight breeze go through the tent. They are
equipped with two beds (set-up for double bed is possible), a bathroom, a
private dressing room, and furnished with hand made furniture following the
style of the Bedouins. Furthermore, each tent comes with its private deck where
clients can enjoy their afternoon tea and watch the sunset. Everything from the
service to the accommodation will be nature friendly as we respect our
environment and want to marvel at it and leave it untouched. The camp has a
cafeteria that can be enjoyed all day long and a restaurant where breakfast,
lunch and dinner are served. All the food is locally grown, making it fresh and
tasty. In Tabuna guests will be surrounded by culture where you can explore the
ancient ruins of the Romans and Pharaohs.
The name Tabuna comes from the Egyptian meaning a traditional oven that was
used to bake the local bread. In this camp we will be using a Tabuna to serve
our guests with the traditional bread and allow them to experience the
preparation of it.
